Performance intelligence for leadership

Know where you stand before your shareholders do.

Artha Mandala reads your company’s performance from its own numbers: a data-processing engine that builds the track record, tests targets, and monitors indicators every month. Experts stay inside the process to give recommendations and support execution, so a number that is about to miss shows up in March, not December.

Targets are signed in December. News about those targets arrives the following December.

In between, leadership spends twelve months not knowing whether the company is still on track. What is ultimately at stake is their seat.

Targets are set with reasonable optimism.

They are rarely tested against the one thing that matters most: what this company has actually achieved in the last five years.

Performance figures are assembled by hand.

From finance and operations, into spreadsheets, into a slide deck. By the time the shareholder-meeting deck is finished, the year is over.

The shareholder meeting becomes a room for defence, not decisions.

Shareholders hear explanations, not early warnings. Consultants are called in to write the narrative, not to change the outcome.

What’s missing isn’t analysis. What’s missing is time.

One engine, with people inside it.

Company data is processed by one engine; experts read the results, make recommendations, and support execution. Select a part to see how it connects.

Everything starts from the company’s own numbers.

Annual reports, business plans, and monthly actuals go into one data-processing engine that puts them on a consistent basis. Work that used to take weeks now takes hours. There are no outside assumptions that can be dismissed as opinion.

Without monthly actuals, the report is built from a derived run-rate, and labelled as such.

The entry point: one question, answered in a week.

Has this company ever done anything like the target being asked of it? Four tests against five years of precedent, three scenarios with sensitivities, and a trend-supported range of outcomes.

The engine calculates; experts judge feasibility and write the recommendation. Output: a deck ready for the leadership meeting.

The recurring part: performance indicators, every month.

Thresholds are agreed at the start. On the fifth working day of every month, leadership receives one page: the latest position, the threshold, a red signal if there is one, and a recommended action from the expert who read the numbers.

This is where the vermilion colour does its work: only on numbers that cross a threshold.

A decision gate, then support with execution.

At the agreed book close, one memo: what needs to be decided, which assumptions need revisiting, and which steps we help carry out with your team.

Written for leadership, before the shareholders ask.

One engagement, two readers.

Management receives the full report first and manages the narrative upward. The Board of Commissioners and shareholders receive a quarterly summary built from the same numbers.

The contract is with the company. Shareholders endorse it; they do not supervise through us.

One scene that changes five times.

From the annual report to a monthly red signal. This is what happens to your numbers.

Stage 1 of 5

Five years, one consistent basis.

Profit, margin, opex, provisions, NPL and ROE from the annual reports are restated so they can be compared. It is a track record that is rarely placed next to the target.

  • Source: annual reports 2021–2025
  • Older figures reclassified to match the latest report
Stage 2 of 5

Target anatomy: where every rupiah comes from.

A bridge from actuals to target shows how much comes from revenue, from efficiency, and from provisioning. The answer is often surprising.

  • Revenue, opex, provisions (CKPN), non-operating
Stage 3 of 5

Four feasibility tests, each against precedent.

Revenue, operating expenses, credit quality, and monthly run-rate. Each is scored against what has actually happened, not against what is hoped for.

  • Scores: high, adequate, moderate, low
Stage 4 of 5

Three scenarios, one trend-supported range, six indicators.

Pessimistic, base and optimistic scenarios with their sensitivities; then a watchlist with thresholds for each scenario. These are the thresholds agreed with leadership.

  • Base = the most likely
  • Thresholds agreed with leadership
Stage 5 of 5

Every month: one page, and a red signal when needed.

On the fifth working day: the latest position against thresholds, with recommendations. At the agreed gate, one decision memo, and our experts help carry it out.

  • Target Watch, September to December
  • Decision memo at the October book close

We argue from your company’s own numbers. That is why the conclusions cannot be dismissed as an outsider’s opinion.

A target that works arithmetically, but isn’t supported by the trend.

1 of 8

The figures above come from a review that has been delivered; the company name, rupiah values and identifying details have been removed. Monthly monitoring results are not yet available and are not claimed.

    Substance within a boundary.

Artha: wealth, and also meaning. Mandala: a complete circle, a domain someone is accountable for. The name describes our work: numbers that mean something, inside a domain someone has to answer for.

    Who we are

A performance intelligence firm built by practitioners who have sat on the leadership side and managed company performance. We combine a data-processing engine with experts in their fields, and we work for company leadership in Indonesia.

    Why we exist

Because targets are signed every year, and no one tests them against the track record. Then no one monitors them until the shareholder meeting. We exist to fill those twelve months.

    What sets us apart

We don’t bring opinions. Our engine reads the company’s own numbers and turns them into early warnings; our experts assess, recommend, and support execution. People stay inside the process. We deliver to management first, as a tool for managing upward.

    Where we’re headed

The engine that processes performance data will do more and more on its own, trained on one field rather than everything. What won’t change: the experts who read the results and stand beside leadership when decisions are made.

Before your next AGM, know what your numbers will say.

The Target Feasibility Test is delivered within a week, from documents you already have. Send the target you’re considering; our engine does the calculations, and our experts tell you whether your company has ever done something similar, and what it would take to get there.
